The 1960s: On August 1, 1960, Robert and Bette Slye began Robert Slye Electronics, Inc., in Washington, D.C. "Sound by Slye" provided audio systems for large events in the D.C. area including the Presidents Cup Regatta, lighting of the National Christmas Tree on the Ellipse, Fourth of July on the Mall, Redskins football games at RFK Stadium, "Summer in the Park" series with plays and concerts at various monuments, and the Cherry Blossom Festival. In 1962, Slye expanded to a larger office on Oak and 22nd Streets in Arlington, VA. Still growing, Slye moved for a second time, in 1968, to Highland Street in Arlington, VA, to an office remodeled for the expansion of the corporation to include a subsidiary. During this time Slye was the parent company of Concord Communications Systems (CCS) of Washington, D.C. As CCS, Slye installed security cameras for the U.S. Department of State at American embassies around the world. Slye in the '70s.
